Saying Yes: How Surrender Changed the Way I Live

In 2024, something within me shifted. After reading The Surrender Experiment by Michael A. Singer, I felt a quiet but radical invitation to stop resisting and start surrendering. Singer wrote, “The natural flow of life is not something you control; it's something you learn to trust.” That line stayed with me.

So I made a commitment: to say yes to anything that felt like a strong inner yes. No overthinking, no analyzing—just listening to that deeper voice.

One of the first big yeses was signing up for an eight-month Breathwork facilitator training. I’d only done one Breathwork retreat before, but the pull was undeniable. So I signed up without hesitation, and that choice completely shifted the direction of my life.

From there, I kept saying yes—to energy retreat, bodywork and reiki training, anything that resonated deeply even if I couldn’t explain why. Each decision brought me closer to a more authentic version of myself.

Midway through the year, I felt another nudge: to leave my job. It wasn’t easy, but it was clear. I said yes to pursuing a more holistic and healing path, and that yes opened up even more space for growth. Soon after, I decided to live in Berlin for a month—a long-held dream. I trusted that the logistics would work out, and they did. I found someone I trusted to stay in my flat last minute, and everything fell into place.

Then came the biggest yes of the year. Toward the end of 2024, I chose to spend several weeks in the Ecuadorian jungle, working with a shaman I had connected with in the past. It was something I had considered before, but this time, it felt right. It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was a clear yes. That experience was deeply transformative. I learned to listen to the wisdom in my body, not just my mind. I began to understand what it really means to trust life. Once again, the universe responded—I found someone to rent my flat in London, and the details sorted themselves out. Every time I surrendered and said yes, life met me with support.

The biggest lesson in all of this? Trust. I’ve learned to trust myself. Trust my inner guidance. Trust the flow of life. That kind of trust takes practice. It doesn’t mean the mind stops analyzing—but I’ve learned to not let it lead.

Surrender, for me, isn’t passive. It’s choosing to tune in and take action from a place of inner alignment. It’s still a learning curve, but it’s one that has brought me more clarity, joy, and purpose than ever before.

If you’re curious where to start, I truly recommend reading The Surrender Experiment. It opened the door for me. And who knows? Maybe your first yes will change everything, too.
