The Beauty of Pause

Recently I returned home to Italy, to the north-east where I grew up, surrounded by pure landscapes, soft green hills, and the stillness of the campagna - the countryside.

At first, I thought about bringing my laptop, just in case. And I did bring it. But I resisted the pull to open it, to check emails, to reply. It was only a few days, yet I realised how difficult it can be to truly stop. To allow the nervous system to rest. To give myself the gift of pause without feeling guilty.
How often do we do that? How often do we let ourselves take time off, not to achieve, not to plan, not to scroll but to simply be?
“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.”
Anne Lamott
I found myself inspired by the animals on my family’s farm. The chickens sunbathing lazily in the heat, the dogs sprawled in the shade, the cats curled in quiet corners. No guilt. No agenda. Just presence. Simply pausing, as if their very being was an offering. And I wondered how much we humans could learn from them.

We live in a world that celebrates doing, striving, moving faster. Yet when the body whispers stop, it is not weakness. It is wisdom. A pause is not failure. It is guidance. It is the doorway into the next version of yourself.
One of the most powerful ways I’ve learned to come back into that pause is through the breath. Conscious connected breathwork invites us to drop out of the busy mind and return to the body. To presence. To the here and now. Every inhale a reminder of life moving through us, every exhale an invitation to soften and let go.
This month, I’ve also created a 20-minute playlist to support you in exactly that. Music to pause to. To hold you as you soften, breathe, and come back to the simple beauty of being.
✨ If you’d like to explore more ways to reconnect with yourself, I offer regular breathwork sessions, both online and in-person in London. These sacred spaces are an invitation to pause deeply, to listen inward, and to restore your whole system. You can discover more about my upcoming sessions and services here.
Take a moment. Let yourself pause. You deserve it.
